There are 2 possibilities for this issue:
- Deadbolt edgetouching the strike whenever the door is closed
- Pressure/force of the door is constantly on the deadbolt, which then translates to the gearbox
- Prolonged use will result in the gearbox being damaged
- Once gearbox is damaged, it will then jam the thumb turn

- Deadbolt front is obstructed by wrong alignment/ lack of striker hole depth

Because the motor of a SHP-DS510 will continuously try to extend the deadbolt, having obstructions will damage the motor
Both possibilities occur mostly because of the lack of a latch on the door. A latch must be installed together with a SHP-DS510. The latch should be holding the door in place for the deadbolt to extend and lock the door.
If the problem occurs due to the striker hole being too shallow, deepening the striker hole will solve the issue. If the problem occurs due to the deadbolt hitting the strike plate/deadbolt edge touching the strike plate, re-aligning the strike plate will solve the issue.
If the user has the same issue for more than 2 times, DDL should visit the site to investigate.
